La Plaza Shopping is the main shopping mall in Ibarra, Ecuador. This two-story building, constructed 17 years ago, had never been remodeled. There was a high demand from customers for restrooms on the ground floor. To address this need, we decided to create a tunnel through an existing commercial unit, utilizing an open space at the back of the facade.

The goal of the renovation was to ensure durability over time, which we achieved with a modern and timeless design that incorporates neutral colors. The hallway features LED lighting and a neutral palette, in keeping with the overall aesthetic of the shopping mall’s renovation.
